The Most Successful Medico-Legal Seminar of Allied Neurology and Interventional Pain Practice
July 27, 2021
Dariusz J. Nasiek, MD - Accident Related Therapy & Pain Management
On Thursday July 15th, 2021, Allied Neurology and Interventional Pain Practice held their most successful medico-legal seminar thus far, with over 65 attendees and an overwhelming amount of support coming after.
Dr. Dariusz Nasiek, Pain Management Specialist, and Dr. Ravi Tikoo MD, Board Certified Neurologist, invited a group of doctors, lawyers, chiropractors, and medical technology industry representatives to discuss two topics – the best medical practice diagnostic protocols, treatment protocols, and documentation, and the importance of evaluating a silent epidemic, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), via EEG.
Regarding the first of the two topics, Dr. Nasiek first went through the five most important documented moments of documentation, from the introductory consultations, through the treatment – including video of procedures – and finally to the rebuttal of insurance IMEs. Additionally, Dr. Dariusz Nasiek, MD spoke in regards of the comprehensive care model which a Neurology Center should follow.
After this, Dr. Ravi Tikoo, MD presented on the silent TBI epidemic, which presents between 1.4 and 3 million cases per year, a discrepancy based on the difficulty of diagnosis. With 56% of mild TBI cases going undiagnosed in ER departments throughout the US, many experience the serious consequences and injury permanency of TBI including an increase in dementia and Parkinson disease and a life span decrease of 2 years. Thankfully, EEG and Tele EEG are now able to be used to diagnose TBI in a more accessible and widely used way. Additionally, new Tele EEG technology has been developed and can be performed over a prolonged period of more than 3 days, making it the most sensitive tool so far to prove focal seizure activity resulting from TBI.
While the food and conversation was just as great as usual, Allied Neurology received an overwhelming amount of support with many messages of thanks following the event. Most notably received where the following:
“Many thanks for an informative evening. Thank you for the organization, outreach, and expansive hospitality. Very well attended and the more we talk to one another or share insight, the better it is for everyone.”
“Thank you so much. It was a great evening and extremely educational.”
“Great event as always, it was a much better event last night. You guys kicked it up several notches. Next time I will bring some colleagues for mutual benefit.”
The next meeting is expected to be held on August 18th 2021, Wednesday, from 7-10PM at the same place.
We are extending an invitation to all our friends, contributors, and professional family to participate in our future events.
