General Motors to hire new employees in Poland

The new employees will be a part of a team manufacturing next generation of Opel Astra

On October 20th, 2014, General Motors Manufacturing Poland announced start of significant hire of over 300 new employees to its production facility in Gliwice. The new employees will be a part of a team manufacturing next generation of Opel Astra.

Start of production is planned for end of 2015, but new employees will start the job as of beginning of 2015. Production in Gliwice is currently run in a two shift mode, but due to upcoming start of production of a new generation car and expected growth of production volume, the increase of employment is necessary. All new jobs are production line jobs.

Gliwice plant is producing current generation of Opel Astra and Opel Cascada. Currently plant employs around 3 000 employees. Sales of Opel vehicles in period January-September 2014 in Poland was of 19 389 cars, which is over 40% increase year over year. Market share of Opel in Poland is of 7,91% and Opel Astra is the most popular Opel model in the country.
