Brooklyn, N.Y. … It was a Sunday of fun and games for Greenpoint’s Polish American children.
It was also a day the kids got a basic lesson in civic responsibility as they watched their parents or grandparents complete the required paperwork that will allow them to vote on this autumn’s primary and election days.
Shown above are members of the Downstate New York Polish American Congress Voter Registration Committee at the registration table in front of Kent Street’s Polish & Slavic Center.

With Kent Street completely closed from Manhattan Ave. to McGuinness Blvd., “we had sort of a captive audience,” said Ms. Michalski.
But while the kids played, many of their elders got down to the serious business of making sure they could vote in the upcoming senatorial, congressional and state elections, according to Frank Milewski, president of the Congress
