November 20, 2009
The Kosciuszko Foundation Board of Trustees announced today that Alex Storozynski has been unanimously reelected as President and Executive Director.
Witold Sulimirski stepped down as Chairman of the Board and Joseph E. Gore was elected as his successor as Chairman. Wanda Senko was reelected as Vice Chair. Mr. Sulimirski, who remains a trustee of the Kosciuszko Foundation, served as Chairman for 11 years, and Mr. Gore served as President for 22 years.
Mr. Storozynski said, "Mr. Gore, Mr. Sulimirski and Mrs. Senko have mentored me during my first year as president and I am pleased to have their support. Their guidance and knowledge is invaluable as we lead the Kosciuszko Foundation into the 21st Century."
In addition, the board elected three news trustees: Victor Ashe, former Ambassador of the United States to Poland, and a former Mayor of Knoxville, Tennessee; Sigmund Rolat, Chairman of the North American Council of the Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Warsaw, and a 2008 recipient of the Commander's Cross of Merit from Polish President Lech Kaczynski; and Krzysztof Rostek of Belvedere Bridge Enterprises, a Real Estate developer.
"I am pleased to welcome these new trustees who will help us carry out our mission of promoting Polish culture and providing scholarships for Poles and Polish Americans," Mr. Storozynski said. "All of our trustees are major benefactors of the foundation and there are hundreds of Polish scholars that owe them a great deal of gratitude."
