Buying from local stores not only helps business owners stay in operation, it also helps you keep your spending-power within your own community with local store owners, who are willing to offer more personal service and are knowledgeable of their customers' needs in the communities where they live.
In my last commentary, I stated that every time you buy an American-made product, you are helping to keep an American employed! Today, I want to add to that appeal by encouraging you to purchase as many of your necessities as possible from stores in your local community. Buying from local stores not only helps business owners stay in operation, it also helps you keep your spending-power within your own community with local store owners, who are willing to offer more personal service and are knowledgeable of their customers' needs in the communities where they live.
We also have to consider that small and medium-size businesses remain the largest employers of Americans, people like you, your family and friends, who seek to earn a living wage, pay their taxes, access medical insurance and pay other living expenses. Without a job, those general living expenses are difficult to sustain. To help keep Americans employed, I encourage you to go out of your way to shop at your local stores and seek out American-made products.
If the stores where you shop have only a limited selection of items made in America, let the sales person know of your concern and let them know you're going out of your way to support stores featuring American-made products.
The goal of the Buy American Made Products Campaign is to promote all levels of business, both large and small, who employ Americans, and in the process, bring about a greater demand for American-made products.
From the responses I receive, it is evident that the current recession has been a wake-up-call for America. It's much like considering a visit to the doctor's office. Sometimes you go because you feel sick, other times you go for a general check-up as a preventative measure. At this point we see our economy is ailing and we need to take critical action to save jobs from leaving America and create more demand for American made products which will lead to more jobs. Our prescription for success must be to support one another by going out of our way to purchase American-made products FIRST and by shopping at local stores which are helping keep Americans employed and communities strong.
