Polish American Congress voter - registration drive back in Queens

June 07, 2008

Ridgewood, N.Y. .. Rev. Wladyslaw (Vlad) Kubrak (2nd from left) shows his parishioners the importance of voter registration by being the first one to complete his own application

The Polish American Congress sent its mobile registration unit to the Brooklyn-Queens border section of Ridgewood where St. Mathias Church serves the interests of Polish Catholics living in Ridgewood and Glendale.

In this photo, Father Kubrak just completed a concelebrated Sunday morning mass at St. Mathias and led his church members to meet with the Congress enrollers waiting for them outside. Chris Rybkiewicz (3 rd from left) who heads the PACs Voter Registration Committee and Bogdan Bachorowski are shown conducting the registration.

There s good reason why Rev. Kubrak is so civic-minded. More than a decade ago, he was on the executive board of the Downstate
N.Y. Congress. He left that position after he decided to enter the seminary and study for the priesthood.

He s as much a leader today as he was then, said Frank Milewski, president of the New York Congress.
Leokadia Juszczak (2nd from right), a member of both the Polish American Congress and St. Mathias parish, lends a hand in the voter registration.
