The Most Reverend Robert Brennan, Bishop of Brooklyn, will be among those leading the Way of the Cross procession, hosted by Communion and Liberation, from the Cathedral Basilica of St. James in Downtown Brooklyn across the Brooklyn Bridge tomorrow, Good Friday, April 15, 2022, beginning at 10 am.
Cardinal Timothy Dolan will join Bishop Brennan at the Cathedral Basilica of St. James located at 250 Cathedral Place in Brooklyn. The full press notice issued by Communion and Liberation follows.
WAY of the CROSS over the BROOKLYN BRIDGE to St. Andrew’s Church - GOOD FRIDAY, April 15, 2022
The Catholic lay movement Communion and Liberation will lead the Way of the Cross over the Brooklyn Bridge, an annual procession held on Good Friday. This year marks its first procession across the bridge since 2019.
The event will begin on April 15, 10:00 am at the Cathedral-Basilica of St. James, 250 Cathedral Place, Brooklyn, where Bishop Robert Brennan (Diocese of Brooklyn) and Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan (Archdiocese of New York) will greet participants. The procession will stop on the Brooklyn Bridge, at City Hall Park, and will conclude at St. Andrew’s Church, at 20 Cardinal Hayes Place, at 1:00 pm.
The Way of the Cross will include Gospel passages, choral music, and selected readings to contemplate the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
The procession is free and open to the public.
Communion and Liberation is an international lay movement in the Catholic Church founded by the Servant of God Monsignor Luigi Giussani in 1954.
