Williamsburg, NY. Church to Light in Yellow and Blue Tonight for Ukraine

Williamsburg parish to host prayer event for peace in Ukraine.

Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello, Pastor of Annunciation Roman Catholic Church, located at 259 N. 5th Street in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn, will lead a prayer service for peace in Ukraine, and light the Church in blue and yellow tonight, Tuesday, April 5, 2022.

The Church’s interior will light in Ukrainian colors at 6:30 p.m. and the exterior of the Church will be lit at 8:00 p.m.
The event will feature a Lenten reflection with music by Al Barbarino, and guest speaker Jason Jones, film producer and founder of The Vulnerable People Project.

“All faiths are invited to join in this special evening where we will light the church in yellow and blue and appeal to the heart of God for peace in Ukraine. Prayer moves mountains and we come together to pray for peace and unity,” said Monsignor Jamie Gigantiello, pastor of Church of the Annunciation and Our Lady of Mount Carmel parishes.

The Vulnerable People Project has been on the ground in Ukraine and assisting in evacuating thousands of vulnerable Ukrainians out of imminent danger to safety in Poland. Jason Jones will share some of his experiences at the Peace for Ukraine event.

Attendees will also have the chance to view a bronze sculpture of Jesus Christ, inspired by The Passion of the Christ, designed by artist Lou Sandoval.
