Networking Event for Polish American Students in New York

April 10, 2019

Last Friday, April 5, 2019 an event titled: “Networking, Professional Career Building & Scholarships” took place.

The meeting started with a panel titled “Planning your career – how to get a scholarship in the USA?” moderated by Consul General Maciej Golubiewski, where students heard advice from representatives of Polish & Slavic Federal Credit Union and The Kosciuszko Foundation responsible for the biggest scholarships for Polish-American students. The following panel was made up of professionals from various fields, such as finance, science research, banking, journalism, and architecture. The main theme of the panel was “Exchange of experiences – how to succeed in your field?” Finally, the last panel was the exchange of experiences between students studying in the USA, some of whom were also recipients of scholarships discussed in the first panel.

The panels were followed by a short break dedicated to networking, and a concert: Bokun/Kościuszko play Moniuszko – Songs without Words.  This mentoring event helped interested students find out about successfully getting a scholarship, aid their transition from college to professional life, and listen to advice from young professionals from a variety of fields. Above all, the event resulted in new friendships and contacts within the Polish expats and Polish-American communities in the United States.
