Essay Contest for the Students of Polish Supplementary Schools in NY, NJ i CT Area

The Marie Sklodowska Curie Professional Women’s Association is announcing another essay contest for the students of Polish Supplementary Schools in the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut Area.
This year the subject of the essay is Copernicus. This should not be a biography but an examination of his Polish roots and the impact of his discovery through the ages. The winning essays will be rewarded at an event on Thursday evening, May 10th at the Princess Manor in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Prizes:
First Prize - $500
Second Prize - $300
Third Prize - $200
Age requirement - thirteen to sixteen year olds
Length - five to six typewritten pages, double spaced
Rubric -
- the essay should be written using proper spelling, grammar and essay structure
- information must be accurate
- research must be evident
- footnotes should be properly used when necessary
- creativity is a requirement
- essay must be in the student’s own words
Deadline - essays must be received by April 15, 2018
