The recruitment to the School for Leaders for the Polish Community in North America is already open – all those who perform activities on behalf of Poland and Polish communities abroad are invited to submit their applications by the 24th June 2017!
If you want to:
- reinforce your leadership skills,
- broaden your knowledge with regard to possible forms of promotion of Poland and engagement of local community,
- establish contacts with Polish community leaders from other countries and the representatives of Polish community organizations and institutions that cooperate with Polish community abroad,
- establish cooperation with the leaders and the organizations in Poland that deal with similar things as you,
And if you:
- are 20 to 40 years old,
- have permanent residence in Canada or United States,
- have Polish origins or are engaged in the activities on behalf of Polish communities in the place of your residence or in the promotion of Poland,
- speak Polish to the degree which enables you to participate actively in the activities run in this language,
- have been active socially, culturally or politically for at least 2 years, which means that you are active in Polish community organizations, professional associations, student clubs and informal associations, journalists, political activists and those who perform activities on behalf of the particular social groups (national minorities, women, religious groups, etc.) and/or are connected with education, science, sports and culture.
- are a leader in your community,
we encourage you to participate in the 9th School for Leaders for the Polish Community that will take place in Poland from 24th August till 6th September 2017.

What is the School for Leaders for the Polish Community?
School for Leaders for the Polish Community in North America is a cycle of workshops, lectures, meetings and study visits, which is addressed to the socially active representatives of the Polish community circles.
The goal of the project is to develop the leadership competencies of the participants and to prepare them to participate actively and consciously in the life of their Polish and local communities in the countries of their residence. The program is also aimed to reinforce the degree of national identification of the participants with Poland and Polish culture and to make them familiar with the Polish reality, the current social and economical situation in the country and the directions of its development.The project has been carried out since 2009 and more than 400 participants from 36 countries in the world have accomplished it.
What does the program involve?
The program of the School for Leaders for the Polish Community in North America will consist of the following elements:
- Workshops to develop leadership competencies, e. g. leadership, team construction, debating;
- Lectures and meetings with politicians, artists, entrepreneurs, social activists, etc.
- Study visits to different cities in Poland where the participants will meet the representatives of government institutions and local leaders and they get familiar with with the examples of social and economical initiatives that are developed in Poland.
The program of each School is prepared according to the needs and expectations gathered during the recruitment. In the previous years the participants took part in the workshops dedicated to leadership, which were run with the help of outdoor method, as well as in the trainings dedicated to public appearances, simulations and interactive networking sessions. They met with such people as the President Lech Wałęsa, the Cardinal Stanisław Dziwisz or Henryk Wujec. They were also invited to the Office of the President of the Republic of Poland, the Polish Parliament and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as different aspects of the contemporary social, cultural and political life in Toruń, Łódź, Gdańsk, Lublin, Poznań or Kraków.
After accomplishing the School the participants are invited to take part in the Program for the Alumni of the School for Leaders for the Polish Community Abroad, thanks to which they gain access to different tools that enable them to establish contacts and collaboration with the leaders from over 30 countries of the world.
The organizers cover the costs of participation in the School, including the costs of lodge, board and training materials, as well as entrance tickets during study visits and, in justified cases, they are reimbursed part of travel expenses.

The applications should include the application form, which should be sent online.

The results of the recruitment will be announced on the http://www.szkola-liderow.pl website by the 2nd of July 2017.
During the recruitment process the School for Leaders Foundation may consult the Polish diplomatic posts within the countries that participate in the project.
