USA: International Art Contest for Children

Republic of Human Rights. Twenty-Five Years of the European Convention on Human Rights in Poland

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland invites children aged 6-15 to take part in the international edition of the art contest "Republic of Human Rights. Twenty-Five Years of the European Convention on Human Rights in Poland." The contest's international edition is addressed to children -citizens of countries where Polish Institutes are situated or accredited. You can find the list of Polish Institutes here.

The contest is organised on the 25th anniversary of Poland's accession to the European Convention on Human Rights system and the recognition by Poland of the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg that will be celebrated in 2018. The contest promotes the rights and freedoms protected under the Convention, such as the right to life; the right to liberty and security; the right to respect for private and family life; freedom of thought, conscience and religion; the right to education; and protection of property. The aim of the contest is to increase childrens interest in human rights in today's world.

Contest works should illustrate how the European Convention on Human Rights provisions are adhered to. They may be done in any artistic technique, using art materials of the participants' choice (like crayons, paints, pencil); on A3 paper sheet (flat work).
The contest's international edition will select six winners, three winners each in both age categories (6-10 and 11-15 years old), who will be awarded prizes, as indicated in the contest's rules, and diplomas.

The winning works of the contest's international edition will be exhibited during the 11th Warsaw Seminar organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and used in promotional activities related the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Poland in the European Convention on Human Rights system.



The contest is organised in two editions: national and international.

Please familiarize yourself with the rules of the contest's international edition. Contest entries together with a filled out entry form and representation, which are attached to the contest rules, should be sent by 15 July 2017 (the postmark date will serve as proof) to the following address:
