The Inaugural Edition of Animated Spirits - Short Film Festival in NYC
April 07, 2015
New Animation from Europe on April 8 and 9, 2015
The European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) in partnership with the Polish Cultural Institute New York will present the inaugural edition of Animated Spirits-some of the most exciting recent animated productions from Europe. Artists from 12 European Union countries will illustrate the spirit of experimentation at the Austrian Cultural Forum NY and at the School of Visual Arts. Following the screenings, animation experts Tom Brown from the UK and Amid Amidi from the US will join the audience to discuss the transatlantic state of this art form. Emphasizing the new, the exciting, and the unconventional-but finding the space to reflect on the continuing potential of the traditional techniques as well-Animated Spirits is the first chance for NYC film audiences and professionals to encounter the very best European animation from recent years.
Tomek Ducki's Baths (Laznia) will be screened on April 8, 2015.
The first screening will be followed by a reception and networking event at the Austrian Cultural Forum NY.
Initiated and organized by Balassi Institute, Hungarian Cultural Center, New York in partnership with the Austrian Cultural Forum, NY and with the participation the European National Institutes of Culture (EUNIC) in New York.
