Tomasz Rozycki in New York, Princeton and Minneapolis

Rozycki is a leading voice of Poland's younger generation of poets. Born in 1970 in Upper Silesia, a historically ethnically mixed region of Poland, he studied romance languages at Kraków's Jagiellonian University and is well-known for his translations of Stéphane Mallarmé and other French writers. He has published six collections of poetry in Polish and two in English: The Forgotten Keys andColonies, both translated by Mira Rosenthal and published by Zephyr Press. Colonies won the Northern California Book Award, was longlisted for the PEN Award for Poetry in Translation, shortlisted for the Oxford-Weidenfeld Translation Prize and the Griffin Prize, and was a World Literature Today notable translation of 2013. His latest book in English, the book-length poem Twelve Stations, translated by award-winning translator Bill Johnston, will be published this spring, also by Zephyr Press.

On March 11 at 7 pm as part of the Poetry Society of America national series, "A Celebration of International Poetry," Rozycki will appear at the Kosciuszko Foundation with his translator Mira Rosenthal and the American poet Matthew Rohrer for a bilingual reading and Q&A. 

On March 13-14 at 3:30 PM Rozycki and Rosenthal will appear at the biennial Princeton Poetry Festival, presented by the Lewis Center for the Arts' Performance Central at Princeton University. They will be joined by American poets Ellen Bryant Voigt, Major Jackson and Ray Young Bear; Belarusian poet Valzhyna Mort; and Vietnamese-American poet Ocean Vuong. The discussion will be chaired by the Irish poet Paul Muldoon, president of the UK Poetry Society and poetry editor of The New Yorker, former Professor of Poetry at the University of Oxford and currently Professor of Creative Writing at Princeton University. 

In April, Rozycki returns to the United States to attend the annual Association of Writers and Writing Programs Conference & Bookfair in Minneapolis. On April 11 at 10:30 AM Rozycki will be joined by his two translators, Mira Rosenthal and Bill Johnston, for a reading and discussion moderated by the award-winning American poet Major Jackson. AWP is the largest literary conference in North America, featuring over 2,000 presenters and 550 readings, panels and craft lectures, hosting over 700 presses, journals and literary organizations from around the world.
