Concert of The American Virtuosi Benefiting the Paderewski Scholarship Fund
July 01, 2014
The music of Polish and world renowned composers including Mozart, Czajkowski, Chopin and Paderewski, as well as the novel compositions of the performing artist group from Baltimore, attracted numerous guests to the Embassy of the Republic of Poland for a concert which took place on June 28th, 2014.
For a tenth year, donors to the Paderewski Scholarship Fund have gathered to appreciate the sounds of classical music compositions. The Fund was established in 2004 by General Edward Rowny, seeking to promote the legacy of Ignacy Jan Paderewski. For the ten years of its existence, the foundation has awarded nine exemplary Polish students the opportunity to attend summer secession at George Mason University and intern in the US capital. This year’s concert was attended by Ms. Katarzyna Bitka, 2014 recipient of the Paderewski Scholarship, a graduate of the Warsaw School of Economics and who currently studies economics in Bruges.
Consul Piotr Konowrocki, head of the embassy’s consular section welcomed the gathered guests on behalf of the Ambassador, noting the praiseworthy undertakings of the Paderewski Scholarship Fund in expanding the knowledge and experiences of young students from Poland as well as developing good Polish American relations.
