Andrey Boreyko holds the position of Music Director of the Orchestre National de Belgique and the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker. With the Orchestre National de Belgique, he ended the 2012/13 season with a highly successful concert in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw with Nikolai Lugansky and this season sees the orchestra touring Germany with Boris Berezovsky, performing a Dvorak Festival in May 2014 and returning to the Concertgebouw. In North America, Andrey Boreyko is also Music Director Designate of Naples Philharmonic (his first concert being with them in November 2013 with a gala concert featuring Sarah Chang) and he additionally holds the position of Principal Guest Conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Euskadi.

Highlights of the 2013/14 season include performances with the New York Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Toronto, St Louis, Houston, and London Philharmonic orchestras. Further ahead he will work with WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln and Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin. The 2012/13 season saw Andrey Boreyko's debut with Orchestre de Paris, and he returned to conduct Rotterdam Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra, Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI and Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte Carlo.

As a guest conductor Andrey Boreyko has worked with major orchestras around the world including the Berliner Philharmoniker, Münchner Philharmoniker, Staatskapelle Dresden, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Wiener Symphoniker, Filharmonica della Scala, Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, London Symphony, Czech Philharmonic, Philharmonia, BBC Symphony and Royal Concertgebouw. In North America, he has conducted the Chicago, Boston, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Dallas and Montreal symphony orchestras.

Numerous CDs as well as TV and radio recordings demonstrate Andrey Boreyko's artistic versatility. His discography with the Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR (with whom he held the position of Principal Guest Conductor) includes Arvo Pärt's Lamentate, Valentin Silvestrov’s Symphony No. 6 (both for ECM records) and the world premiere of his original version of the Suite op. 29 from the opera Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk for Hänssler Classics. He has also recorded Tchaikovsky’s Manfred Symphony with the Düsseldorfer Symphoniker and Chain 2 by Witold Lutosławski with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Martin Chalifour for Yarling Records. With the Orchestre National de Belgique, Andrey Boreyko continues an extensive recording project of all Shostakovich symphonies, having already recorded Nos 1, 4, 6, 9 and 15 with Radio-Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart des SWR.

Boreyko has previously held positions including Chief Conductor of the Jenaer Philharmonie (of whom he is now Honorary Conductor) and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Berner Symphonieorchester, the Hamburger Symphoniker and the Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra, He was also Principal Guest Conductor of the Vancouver Symphony and Music Director of the Ural State Philharmonic Orchestra.

Boreyko is a Russian of the Polish origin, born in St. Petersburg of where, at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory, he studied conducting and composition (with Elisabeta Kudriavtseva and Alexander Dmitriev), graduating summa cum laude. Whilst with the Jenaer Philharmonie, Boreyko received awards for the most innovative concert programming in three consecutive seasons from the German Music Critics Association (Deutscher Musikverleger-Verband) – the first in the history of the prize.
