The screening of the movie "Wegierskie serce" in New York

January 13, 2014

You are cordially invited to the screening of the movie “Wegierskie serce” on Tuesday, January 14th at 7.00 pm by Jozef Pilsudski Institute of America.

Former Polish ambassador in Hungary, Grzegorz Lubczyk, wrote the screenplay and directed the 60-minute film, which is a tribute to the Hungarian nation for an unprecedented and selfless assistance at the dramatic times of war.

During the Second World War over 120 thousand Polish refugees including many military, passed by Hungary to reach France. Hungarian church, intelligence and citizens were very happy to help Poles hiding from the Nazis and the Communists. The family members of the Hungarian carers, Polish witnesses as well as children and grandchildren of those who received assistance from the fraternal nation tell stories about that time.

Their attitude during the war is a great proof that the "Polish-Hungarian two brothers," means a real Polish-Hungarian friendship. It is a fact and not just an empty phrase.
