Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford Lends His Support to U.S. Congressional Efforts to Allow Visa Waivers for Polish Citizens
February 24, 2013
State Treasurer Dan Rutherford is lending his support to U.S. congressional efforts to add Poland to the other 36 existing countries currently participating in the United States’ Visa Waiver Program.
“Poland remains one of America’s most trusted allies – all the way back to the American Revolution, Polish soldiers have fought for freedom alongside Americans. Poland is a valued diplomatic partner and they already allow U.S. citizens entry into their country without a visa. Plus, Polish Americans deserve to have barriers removed to allow their friends and families easier trips into the United States. Even Illinois’ travel and tourism industries would see a positive impact from more Polish visitors,” emphasized the state treasurer.
“I applaud U.S. Senator Mark Kirk for reintroducing the Visa Waiver Program Enhanced Security and Reform Act and I publicly support the bipartisan federal efforts,” Rutherford added.
