State Senator Serphin R. Maltese (Queens) presented a $75,000 grant to the Governor Mario M. and Matilda Raffa Cuomo Heartshare First Step Early Childhood Center in Richmond Hill.
The Center is dedicated to helping children with special needs at no cost to eligible families.
The Senator also obtained $75,000 grants for the two other Heartshare Early Childhood Centers in his district, the Dolly and Frank Russo Center in Richmond Hill and the Lefferts Liberty Kiwanis Center in Howard Beach.
Heartshare Human Services is a nonprofit agency dedicated to improving the lives of those with special needs. The Early Childhood Centers serve infants, toddlers and preschoolers with speech and language disorders, behavior disorders, physical handicaps, autism, Down’s syndrome and other impairments. They provide special education, therapy and early intervention programs.
