Polish Filmmakers to Present in New York

August 03, 2013

The 2013 Kingston Film Festival will showcase two Polish filmmakers at the Upper Hudson Valley cultural event. Presentations of shorts, full features, animation and docs will run from Sunday, August 2, through Sunday, August 11, 2013. Music in film is the theme for this year’s summer event. Live performances will follow some of the film presentations.

Co-director of the Kingston Film Festival, Astrid Cybele, recently returned from the Moscow International Film Festival, announced that MEET KEVIN by director Maciek Godlewski will be presented on Saturday, August 3, at 4:00 p.m. It is a concentrated and in-depth personal look at painter Kevin Paulsen and the storytelling that is portrayed by his paintings. Godlewski, who is an avid painter himself, portrays the deep thoughts of Paulsen over a seemingly simple and casual cup of coffee.

Another compelling indie because of its layered approach to comedy will be the full feature, GET A JOB. Scheduled for Sunday August 4, at 3:00 p.m. this award winner, made in Hawaii, is a tutorial for young filmmakers. It encompasses the lessons of collaboration. The blending of island musicians throughout the cinematic journey platforms director Brian Kohne as a new talent to watch. Willie K and Eric Gilliom as the leads do not disappoint. The film shows how sights can be further enhanced with the energy of superior musical artists. Associate producer, Raymond Rolak, will host a Q & A afterwards. Rolak, a longtime media professional has written and produced a variety of Polish history projects.

“Everything musical regarding the viewing and making of films will be celebrated this year,” said Cybele. Both films will be shown at the BSP Lounge, 323 Wall Street, Kingston, N.Y. 12401 http://wwwkingstonfilmfestival.org
