Polish American Congress Annual Christmas \"Oplatek\" Will Be Held on January 6, 2013
The Downstate NY Division of the Polish American Congress has scheduled this Christmas season’s “Oplatek” for Sunday, January 6th at the Polonaise Terrace in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
This annual celebration features performances by children who are students at various Polish Supplementary (Saturday) Schools in the New York area. The performers this season will be the Gaudate Singers from Holy Cross Parish in Maspeth.
Our honored guest will be Mr. Walter Kolodziejek, one of the first prisoners sent to Auschwitz when it opened in June, 1940. Our guests, along with the Gaudate children, will help Mr. Kolodziejek celebrate his 91st birthday at the “Oplatek”.
If you were a guest at our “Oplatek” in 2001, you will recall that we all participated in observing the 80th birthday of American war hero, Col. Francis Gabreski, who was our country’s top Air Ace in Europe while serving with the U.S. Air Force in World War II.
Details of the event are available below. We hope you will be able to be with us.
