Changes at Downstate NY PAC

June 26, 2012

Stress leadership and experience.

Brooklyn, N.Y. .. The Downstate New York Division oif the Polish American Congress continues reorganizing and downsizing its Executive Board following the June election meeting held at the Polish & Slavic Center.

The latest move was the election of Grazyna (Grace) Michalski (center) as treasurer, shown here accepting congratulations of (from left to right): Frank Milewski, president; Szczepan Janeczko, vice president; Andrew Kaminski, secretary and legal counsel and John Czaplinski, vice president.

Ms. Michalski moves into the treasurer’s post succeeding Mr. Janeczko who had been appointed to this position on an interim basis following the death of Anthony Matrejek early last year.  Mr. Janeczko will now serve as one of the PAC’s vice presidents.

“Our organization is fortunate to have such high caliber individuals like Grace and Szczepan serving us in such key positions,” said President Milewski.

Ms. Michalski is currently president of the Education Society of the Maria Konopnicka Supplementary School affiliated with St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish in Greenpoint, Brooklyn where she began as a teacher twenty-five years ago.

She is a member of St. Stanislaus Bishop & Martyr Parish in downtown Manhattan and also a member of the Pulaski Parade Committee.

Mr. Janeczko is the National President of the Sea League of America (Liga Morska), founded in Poland at the end of World War I before becoming active in the United States.

The Sea League is a patriotic organization which has flourished and expanded its activities under Janeczko’s leadership.  It often acts as honor guard at Polish commemorative ceremonies, many of which take place at religious observances and churches..

“In the Polish community, we often compare the Sea League to the Knights of Columbus  because they participate so regularly in our religious services,” said Milewski.
