Wystawa Hanny Kelker

Hanna Kelker jest naukowcem. Skończyła studia na Wydziale Biologii i Nauki o Ziemi Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego, doktorat otrzymała w Michigan State Univerity. Przez ostatnie lata prowadziła prace naukowe na Wydziale Medycyny w New York University school of Medicine.  Od lat interesuje sie sztuką, głównie fotografią. Pięć lat temu, po skończeniu kursu fotografii w New York University i po zapisaniu się do Polsko-Amerykańskiego Klubu Fotografika, zaczęła poważnie zajmować się fotografią cyfrową. Bodżcem do wystawiania  oraz tej pierwszej indywidualnej wystawy  była pochlebna recenzja z jej prac które ukazały się w Salonie Klubu w 2008 r napisana przez redaktora Czesława Karkowskiego w Nowym Dzienniku.

Pasją Hanny jest fotografowanie efemerycznego, malowanego przez światło, świata.

„Najbardziej interesuje mnie fotografia scen w których głównym tematem jest światło i obrazy przez nie malowane, takie jak cienie, odbicia jak również wspaniałe barwy którymi malowany jest krajobraz przez światło wschodzącego i zchodzącego słońca. Fascynują mnie cienie, które tworząc świetlne kopie przedmiotów  zmieniające się wraz z kątem świecącego słońca dodają scenom interesującą atmosferę. Magiczny świat cieni jest różnorodny: może to być delikatna roślinność stwarzająca liryczny efekt, lub mogą to być masywne, budzące grozę kształty.”

W swoim wystąpieniu na wystawie Hanna Kelker  podziękowała: rodzinie za emocjonalne wsparcie, Robertowi Schaffer i Anicie Chernewski, nauczycielom fotografii na NYU za cenne rady i pomoc w znalezieniu własnego stylu, Polsko-Amerykańskiemu Klubowi Fotografika za wymianę doświadczeń oraz dzielenie się wiedzą oraz za organizowanie  Salonów Fotograficznych, które dają szansę członkom klubu na wystawianie swoich prac.  Słowa podziękowania otrzymał również Jan Hausbrandt za artystyczne doradztwo oraz Redaktor Kuriera Plus Zofia Kłopotowska z zespołem za organizację wystawy w Galerii Kuriera.

Hanna Kelker wystawiała również w: Kips Bay Art Show, New York University School of Medicine oraz Soho Photo Gallery.

Photographic Exhibition by Hanna Kelker

On the 20th of May 2011 Kurier Plus hosted an opening of an exhibition of photographs by Hanna Kelker titled “Painted by Light”.  The artist showed 27 photographs covering her pursuits in three areas: Shadows and Reflections, cityscapes of Saint Petersburg (Russia) in July, and landscapes from Arizona. 

Hanna Kelker is a scientist.  She studied Biology and Biochemistry at the University of Warsaw and received her doctorate in biochemistry in the USA. She conducted research in the Department of Medicine at the New York University School of Medicine.  Her pursuit of photography derives from her life-long interest in art and expression. Five years ago, after completing a photography course at New York University and joining the Polish American Photographic Club she began a serious artistic pursuit using digital photography. The impetus for this exhibit came from journalist Czeslaw Karkowski, who wrote a complementary review of her photographs shown at the 2008 Salon of the Club and who encouraged her to organize an exhibition of her works.

Her passion is to photograph ephemeric images created by light. “I delight in photographing the impressions of images painted by light, such as shadows, reflections and landscapes with wonderful colors that change in tone and hue with the movement of the sun passing through the day from sunrise to sunset.  I am fascinated by shadows that create replicas of the objects that cast them to create a distinct mood that accentuates the characteristics of the setting. Shadows can create a lyrical effect in woods or gardens by adding fragile vegetation of their own that evolve with the passing day or they can be perceived as menacing in a modern urban environment.” 

In her welcoming remarks Hanna Kelker thanked her family for emotional support; Robert Schaeffer and Anita Chernewski, her photography teachers at NYU, for valuable advice and encouragement  that was so useful for the development of her  personal style; the Polish American Photographic Club for creating a collegial learning environment  and organizing Photographic Salons; and especially Jan Hausbrandt for his fine artistic judgment .  She also expressed her gratitude to Kurier Plus editor Zofia Doktorowicz Klopotowska and her staff for organizing the exhibit.

Hanna Kelker photographic work has been shown at the 2008 Salon of the Polish American Photographers Club, the Kips Bay Art Show, the New York University School of Medicine and the Soho Photo Gallery.
