Dinner-Seminar of Dr Nasiek Pain Management Practice at Royal Warsaw Restaurant

On Thursday, January 27st, Allied Neurology and Interventional Pain Practice, PC and Dr. Dariusz Nasiek, MD held yet another conference at Royal Warsaw Restaurant. Held in order to accommodate the amount of people who wanted to attend last week’s conference, Dr. Nasiek presented once again on the Medico-Legal Definitions of the Final Diagnoses and Permanency of certain trauma injuries, providing handouts and slides.

The presentation outlined the definitions of diagnosis and permanency of the following key injuries: contusions, concussions, disc bulging/herniations, facet arthropathy, radiculopathy, and shoulder/knee derangements.

During his seminar, Dr. Nasiek made sure to highlight the key words and phrases necessary to use in regards to these injuries. For example, Dr. Nasiek outlined part of the definition required regarding the permanency of a contusion.

Dr. Nasiek stated that a patient who experienced such a contusion will form adhesions with the fibrotic tissue, causing joint hypo-mobility evidenced as a loss of range of motion (ROM). Injuries such as these often cause tearing and stretching of the soft tissue involved which can produce local micro-hemorrhaging and inflammation.

Such inflammation is usually followed with the production of scar tissue in that area. As these damaged tissues heal, the inflamed areas may remain a chronic source of irritation due to the production of fibrous proteins, collagen, which aid in the formation of scar tissue. Scars that follow such injuries may remain a constant source of irritation and may cause loss of motion.

Allied Neurology would like to thank everyone in attendance for the warmth they created on the coldest night of the year through community. At each meeting, there is always an overwhelming sense of support that creates a bubble of good feeling during these challenging times. Though the meetings are small, the community is strong and Allied Neurology looks forward to continue these conferences to spread knowledge and company to the local medical and legal community.

The next seminar will be held in February 2021.
