Michelle Selwa urodziła się w 1994 r. w Nowym Jorku. Mieszka na Staten Island. Studiowała sztukę w Brooklyn College i Yale University School of Art. Na obrazach wystawionych w kawiarni młoda artystka utrwaliła ulotne chwile ze swojego życia, swoją delikatną osobowość i uczucia przetwarzając stare fotografie oraz filmy w malarską, ekspresyjną i atrakcyjną formę.

Michelle Selwa was born in 1994 in Queens, New York. She resides in Staten Island and is studying for her BFA degree at Brooklyn College. She is also a recent Yale University School of Art at Norfolk 2016 alumni. Her interests in painting are capturing moments using fluid and economic brush strokes. Her recent body of work explores ideas of reality, memory, and technology. Memory is malleable, thus the sense of self is fluid and constantly changing. Videos and photographs are used to document moments, yet there is a degree of separation from reality. Painting is utilized to present this conflict. Through the work she explores the fragile sense of self, and hopes to convey the feelings of anxiety and dissociation through painting.
