Polska była bliska spełnienia warunków włączenia do programu ruchu bezwizowego z USA, ale od lipca próg odmów wizowych ma zostać obniżony do 3%. Oznacza to, że praktycznie Polacy nie będą już mieli szans na zniesienie wiz do USA.

Jedyną szansą pozostaje masowa akcja Polonii. Wysyłajmy emaile, listy, faxy, dzwońmy do naszych reprezentatów - do kongresmenów, senatorów oraz do Prezydenta Stanów Zjednoczonych Baracka Obamy z prośbą o zniesienie wiz dla Polaków.

Oprócz prezydenta proponujemy wysłać apel do: senatora Johna McCaina, kongresmena Mike\'a Quigley z Chicago, który ostatnio wezwał Obamę do zniesienia wiz dla Polaków oraz senator Dianne Feinstein, która z kolei jest bardzo przeciwna włączeniu Polski do programu bezwizowego. Ponadto warto pisać do polityków ze stanu w którym mieszkasz - zobacz listę.

Możesz to zrobić w różny sposób - najważniejsze: zrób to szybko.

   Powiedz, że jesteś Amerykaninem polskiego pochodzenia i że będziesz głosować. Jeśli prezydent Obama nie zmieni polityki wizowej wobec Polski, będziesz głosować na kogoś innego w najbliższych wyborach.

Dear President Barack Obama, Senator Dianne Feinstein, Senator John McCain:

We, voters of Polish origin, appeal to your Administration to waive the visa requirements for Polish citizens traveling to the United States.

For many years Poland has not required visas from American citizens traveling to Poland. At the same time Polish citizens are forced to pay a $100 fee for merely submitting a visa application. Tens of thousands of those applications are then rejected.

Furthermore, many Polish citizens who have already been granted American visas are turned away at the border and sent directly back to Poland. Immigration officials have even been known to use handcuffs on these travelers, and unlike citizens of France and Germany who refused to support the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan, Poles are subject to the controversial and humiliating procedures of picture-taking and fingerprinting.

The U.S. Administration has praised Poland for its pro-American stance, but words have not been followed by actions. The United States has already waived visa requirements for several Eastern European countries such as the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania and Slovakia. We are voters. Our number in the US far exceeds the sum of the population of all these minorities.

Why let Poland be further excluded from the mix? With the abolition of this barrier, you would finally sweep away the last remnants of Communism and the Cold War.

We believe that Poles deserve better treatment. Thus, we appeal that visa requirements for Polish citizens be waived and that Poles be allowed to travel to the United States without fear of humiliation.

If you want to count on the support of over 10 million of the Polish-Americans during the coming elections we urge you to give our request your most serious consideration.
