Polish Native Wins Detroit Free Press/Talmer Bank Marathon

DETROIT - Derek Nakluski of Ontario, Canada and Wioletta Kryza of Olsztyn, Poland won the Men’s and Women’s titles of the Detroit Free Press International Marathon.

The race carried over the Ambassador Bridge into Canada and back. There was a reception and block party for all the participants afterwards.
The 29-year-old Nakluski had an unofficial time of 2:28:20. The 43-year-old Kryza also won in Detroit in 2005. She has run 72 marathons in her 22 year career. It was her 28th victory at the 26.2 mile distance.
Over 20,000 runners participated in five different categories. It was the 34th annual event.
