Power Ranking the Top Three Clubs in Europe: Manchester City, PSG and Barcelona
08 listopada, 2017
It has now been three months into the current season, and there have been a few stand out performers across Europe, where clubs have shown pure dominance domestically and in Europe. These teams have yet to lose a match and have gone on from strength to strength this season.
1. Manchester City
The Premier League leaders continue to show their mettle in Europe and in England this season. After a disappointing debut from Pep Guardiola in his initial season, his second season has shown the fruits of his labor so far. Players like Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, and Kevin De Bruyne have improved drastically under Pep Guardiola, gaining extra finesse in their already wide array of skills and attributes. The additions of Ederson at goalkeeper and Kyle Walker at right back gives the Citizens a much more solid and consistent back line that can contribute in the attack as well. Their depth as well is quite outstanding, there are matches where the likes of Bernardo Silva, Sergio Aguero, Ilkay Gundogen, and others don’t even make the first XI while maintaining a quite strong squad on the pitch. They have beaten the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Napoli very convincingly both in England and in Europe.
2. PSG
In France, PSG have almost had an identical start to Manchester City. Having been quite impervious throughout this season (haven’t lost a match), PSG have beaten the likes of Bayern Munich and Olympique Lyon, as well as other teams in Europe and France. Kylian Mbappe, Neymar, and Edison Cavani have formed the most fearsome front three in all of Europe. Meanwhile, like Manchester City, PSG have the depth to call upon with Julian Draxler and Angel Di Maria. Even though this side haven’t been as tested as Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, the sheer potential with the talent they have on offer is staggering.
3. Barcelona
Barcelona have had a relatively perfect start to their season as well. They have only dropped points away against Atletico Madrid, while maintaining a perfect record throughout the season. However, unlike the two already mentioned in this list, Barcelona have relied a bit on Lionel Messi. He has quickly reclaimed his mantle of being the best player in the world as Cristiano Ronaldo has gone missing for Real Madrid. With the likes of Ousmane Dembele having a long term injury and Luis Suarez having his worst goal drought in years, the Argentine has put it on himself to do most of the heavy lifting. So far, he has done extremely well to essentially carry Barcelona to the top of La Liga and the top in their own Champions League group.
