Poland’s Lewandowski is Fourth Behind Messi, Neymar, and Ronaldo

By Michael Skok     12 stycznia, 2016

With the 2015 Ballon D’Or going to Lionel Messi, who has won the prize for the 5th time in his career, it is time to look at his closest competitors for the prize. Messi won the award with 41.33% of the vote, while Ronaldo and Neymar received 27.76% and 7.86% of the votes, respectively.

In fourth place, was Robert Lewandowski with 4.17% of the vote; beating out the likes of Luis Suarez, Andres Iniesta, Sergio Aguero, Eden Hazard, Thomas Mueller, Manuel Neuer and a host of other prestigious names. Lewandowski capped a brilliant year, after leading this Euro 2016 qualifier goals for his country Poland and having some of the most stellar performances in Europe, such as scoring five goals against Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga in less than 10 minutes.

If Poland’s captain and Bayern Munich’s #9 continues his goal scoring exploits, there is certainly a possibility for the talented striker to become part of the final three on the podium come next year.
