Thomas Mueller is an Impossibility for Manchester United
Michael Skok 01 sierpnia, 2015
100 Million euros should be an absolute guarantee as a sufficient price for any player not named Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi. Add Thomas Mueller to that list. Recently, it has been reported by several publications that that was the bid sent in from Manchester United to persuade the Bayern hierarchy to let the Bavarian talisman go.
On paper, Thomas Mueller would fit brilliantly with Van Gaal’s side, not only does the 25 year old German international have experience playing for the Dutch coach, but he has the intelligence and ability to succeed in Van Gaal’s rumored 4-3-3 system. Realistically, Mueller can play any position amongst the front three. Not only that, he has shown in countless matches for Bayern to play anywhere amongst the front line, popping up on the left, right, inside and outside the box. Mueller would give Van Gaal’s side flexibility that few other players in the world could provide.
However, at least for now, it does seem to be incredibly far away from that reality. Bayern Munich would be mad to get rid of Mueller in the same transfer window that has seen Bastian Schweinsteiger leave the club for the Red Devils. Offloading another Bavarian talisman, nonetheless to the same club, would be political suicide for chairmen Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Pep Guardiola. Not only that, Thomas Mueller is world class on the pitch. Realistically, there would be no one else in the world, even if Bayern received an exorbitant fee, which could replace and provide the intelligence and fluidity that the German international already brings. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stating "I have the feeling that Thomas is at Bayern for life and will never leave” will certainly do all in his power to keep that feeling a reality.
