A major 7.1-magnitude earthquake struck Alaska\'s Aleutian Islands early Friday, triggering a tsunami warning for the remote region, the US Geological Service reported.
The relatively shallow quake occurred some 125 miles (201 kilometers) from the town of Atka, in the Alaskan island chain in the Pacific that is home to major commercial fishing enterprises.
