Wizards win despite Love\'s double-double

06 marca, 2011

Minnesota\'s Kevin Love notched his 50th straight double-double but Washington\'s John Wall had one as well to lead the Wizards to a 103-96 NBA victory over the Timberwolves.

Love on Saturday scored 20 points and had 21 rebounds. His 50th double-double in a row put him one short of equalling the NBA record streak set by Moses Malone in 1978-79.

Love, who leads the NBA with 59 double-doubles this season, could match Malone\'s mark in a home game against Dallas on Monday and claim the record alone next Wednesday at home against Indiana.

"Yeah, it\'s kind of normal now," said teammate Michael Beasley. "Tell me \'40-40\' and I\'ll get excited."

Perhaps Beasley would have been more impressed if the Timberwolves had managed to hold on for the victory.

But Wall, Andray Blatche and ailing Wizards teammate Trevor Booker had other ideas.

Wall scored 18 points and had a career-high 11 rebounds. Blatche scored 20 points and had seven rebounds, and rookie forward Booker was able to shake off an intestinal ailment to play almost the whole fourth quarter, delivering three key dunks.

"It was real tough," Booker said. "I didn\'t know if I was going to make it or not. Most of the minutes in the fourth quarter, I was hurting but I fought through it."

Six of Booker\'s seven points came in the space of less than two minutes.

That included two dunks on offensive rebounds, on one of which Booker leaped from behind Love, snatched the ball and jammed it in.

"I just saw the ball up there, so I just tried to go up and get it," Booker said. "And then I saw I was pretty high. I decided to dunk it."

"I got off at that 10th floor, he got off at the 12th," Love said.
