Explorers Club on May 31
Ms. Rogozińska, a journalist and a mountaineer, co-founded the very successful Polish chapter of the Explorer’s Club in 1993 and was honored with the Club's Sweeney Medal in 2013 in recognition of her dedicated service and ongoing commitment to promoting exploration.
The evening will also feature a presentation from journalist and writer Tomasz Grzywaczewski. Inspired by Slawomir Rawicz’s book “The Long Walk,” about six men who escaped the Soviet gulag by trekking from Siberia to India (their story was also the basis of Peter Weir’s 2010 film “The Way Back”), Grzywaczewski decided to recreate their story. In six months, he traveled 5,000 miles from Irkutsk to Calcutta – a journey recounted in his book “Through the Wild East.”
This event will kick off the three-day MediaTravel Festival, organized by the Polish-American Travelers Club, featuring films and presentations made by Polish travelers and explorers.
