USA: Polish Embassy Statement regarding comments made by Jim Cramer on CNBC's Mad Money

This statement was unnecessary, inaccurate, and insensitive.

To compare the service of men and women in uniform to a department store is wholly out of place. Additionally, the historical facts simply do not support Mr. Cramer's comparison.

In Septernber 1939 Poland was jointly invaded by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. The Polish Army fought gallantly against the odds. Alone and outgunned, Poland mustered every unit it could to defend against the unprovoked attack.

However, not once in 1939 did the Polish Army deploy cavalry against German tanks. This is pure Nazi and Communist propaganda that continues to weave its way into Western media reports to this very day. lf the mainstream media is to be respected by viewers, it cannot recycle old Nazi propaganda.

Here are the facts: in 1939 there were a number of recorded Polish cavalry charges against the invading Nazi Gerrnan forces. These charges were directed against infantry, artillery, supplies, and at times as a means of breaking out of encirclement but never against tanks.

Over 75 years have passed since the start of World War II, it is time to abandon false claims based on propaganda. We ask that Mr. Cramer apologize for his insensitive comparison and that viewers of Mad Money be made aware of the historical inaccuracy of the statement in question.
