Stanford University Hosts Polish - American Discussion on Energy Sector Innovations

21 listopada, 2014

Held on 20 November, the debate was part of the Polish-American Innovation Week (PAIW) in California.

Meeting at a seminar devoted to energy sector innovations, Polish and American businesspeople and scientists have discussed the challenges, role of innovations, and implementation of state-of-the-art solutions in the energy sector. Undersecretary of State Katarzyna Kacperczyk took part in the event.

The deputy chief of Polish diplomacy underscored that the PAIW economic mission from Poland is the largest ever undertaking of this kind in the United States. “Innovation leaders who are in California today represent companies whose thinking about the future is certainly out of the box,” said Deputy Minister Kacperczyk. She pointed out that given the expected increase in energy demand, it will be necessary to use innovative and environmentally friendly solutions in order to guarantee Poland’s energy security. “To achieve this, we must invest in new technologies and upgrade those that are already in place,” said the deputy chief of Polish diplomacy.

PAIW’s programme at Stanford University also included thematic sessions on Polish-American scientific, research and business projects in such fields as green energy, biomedicine, IT systems, and creative industry technologies. Moreover, government officials, scholars and entrepreneurs from Poland and the US talked about bilateral cooperation during a round table on energy.

In addition, Stanford University hosted a debate about women in innovation and business, featuring Deputy Minister Kacperczyk and YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki. While in California, the Polish delegation also met with county and municipal officials of Los Angeles and San Francisco, as well as State of California representatives.
