Brooklyn\'s International Day of Friendship - Free Family Friendly Fun
17 lipca, 2014
With nearly one million foreign-born residents living in Brooklyn, Borough President Eric L. Adams recognizes that Brooklyn is a diverse melting pot, which makes our borough the perfect place to host an International Day of Friendship Celebration.
International Day of Friendship is celebrated around the world as countries partake in a variety of events to promote peace and unity. On April 27th 2011, the 65th Session of the United Nations General Assembly declared the 30th of July as “International Day of Friendship”, in an effort to unite people and countries, while promoting peace and non-violence as a means to bridge the gap between all cultures.
Sunday, August 3 2014, the world will get the opportunity to see how Brooklynites “spread love the Brooklyn way”. Our mission is to build One Brooklyn: bridging gaps between cultures and making bonds of friendship that connect people in all communities throughout Brooklyn and the world. Brooklyn’s first International Day of Friendship Celebration will be held at Brooklyn Borough Hall on Sunday, August 3rd with a variety of engaging events that will showcase Brooklyn’s diversity. This free, family friendly event will take place from 11:00 AM- 5:00 PM, starting with an international unity parade of flags, a tribute to the coun- tries traditional attire, cultural performances and continental cuisine and is open to the general public.
