Way of the Cross over the Brooklyn Bridge in NY on Good Friday

07 kwietnia, 2014

On Good Friday, April 18, 2014, the lay movement Communion and Liberation, with the support of the Archdiocese of New York and the Diocese of Brooklyn, will lead the Way of the Cross over the Brooklyn Bridge.

This year marks the 19th anniversary of the procession, which has become a unique experience of Christ’s victory for the thousands who have joined us over the years. In 2012, we were greatly honored when His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI, now Pope-Emeritus, conferred on the participants his apostolic blessing in which he assured us of his closeness in prayer and expressed his hope that "by contemplating the price paid by the Son of God for our redemption from the power of sin, they will be led to deeper conversion, more fervent faith and generous commitment to the spread of God’s Kingdom of holiness, justice and peace." This is also our prayer for the many New Yorkers who will join us for the Way of the Cross. We cordially invite all members of the Archdiocese of New York and the Diocese of Brooklyn to join us at 10:00 am at St. James Cathedral in Brooklyn. We will then cross the Bridge into Manhattan, stopping for meditations at City Hall Park and near Ground Zero. We will conclude with a station at St. Peter’s Church, on Barclay St., at 1:30 pm.
