Visit of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge to Poland - Day 1
18 lipca, 2017
On 17 July The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrived in Warsaw to begin a two-day visit to Poland.
TRH were greeted by President of Poland Andrzej Duda and the First Lady as they arrived in Warsaw to begin the first official visit to Poland.
After meeting with the Presidential Couple, The Duke and Duchess visited the Warsaw Rising Museum, which commemorates the largest underground resistance effort against Nazi occupation during World War II. The uprising, which took place from August to October 1944, was organized by the Polish Home Army (Armia Krajowa). After touring the museum, The Duke and Duchess met with veterans of the uprising and lit candles in remembrance of those who fell during the conflict.
Next, The Duke and Duchess visited the Warsaw Spire, where they met Polish entrepreneurs. The visit coincided with a technology marketplace showcasing Polish startups. The visit of The Duke and Duchess to the startup event officially began the “Warsaw-London bridge”, a program meant to open more opportunities for Polish entrepreneurs to do business in the London market.
To conclude the day, in the evening The Duke and Duchess travelled to Łazienki Park, the most famous public park in Warsaw. There, HRH Prince William gave a speech at an event hosted by the British Ambassador to Poland.
