Poland welcomes the start of the implementation of the interim agreement between the EU/E3+3 (France, Germany, Great Britain, China, Russia, the United States and the European Union) and the Islamic Republic of Iran to scale back the Iranian nuclear programme.
Stopping the enrichment of uranium by Iran and a partial dismantling of the relevant infrastructure were the most important preliminary conditions for suspending some of the economic sanctions imposed on Iran. Iran’s constructive cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency’s inspectors allowed the European Union’s foreign ministers to take a decision today to suspend some sanctions.
Poland has been following closely the progress made in negotiations to reach a comprehensive solution that would resolve the problem of Iran’s nuclear programme. We hope that the Islamic Republic of Iran’s engagement in an efficient implementation of the Geneva accord will contribute to reaching a solution paving the way for a gradual normalisation of relations between the international community and the Islamic Republic of Iran.
