To mark the 40th anniversary of the martyrdom of Blessed Fr. Jerzy Popiełuszko, the Archdiocesan Museum in Warsaw is hosting the moving exhibition "Truth and Freedom." Fr. Jerzy's murder in October 1984 deeply shocked the nation, prompting the communist regime to stage a sham trial of the perpetrators. The exhibition explores his spiritual and activist legacy through rare photos, artworks, and documents.
Running until November 3, 2024, it also features works by contemporary artists like Jacek Sroka and Jan Lebenstein, symbolizing Poland's struggle for freedom. Tomasz Tatarczyk's "Charon's Boat" powerfully represents the priest's ultimate sacrifice. Visitors can also attend lectures, film screenings, and discussions about his memory.
