Polish Princess Angelika Jarosławska-Sapieha Appeals to End the Bloody War in Ukraine!

Michael Rendvill     03 maja, 2019

Her Serene Highness Polish Princess Angelika Jarosławska-Sapieha appeals to the world to act in solidarity to end the bloody war in Ukraine! Her appeal, in which she describes the dramatic situation in Ukraine, shocked the world.

We often talk about the European princely and royal families. Now it’s a time to take a closer look at Poland’s social activist - Her Serene Highness Polish Princess Angelika Jarosławska-Sapieha, who appeals to the world to act in solidarity to end the bloody war in Ukraine! Her appeal, in which she describes the dramatic situation in Ukraine, shocked the world.

HSH Princess Angelika Jarosławska-Sapieha appeals to the world for solidarity to end the bloody war in Ukraine. A letter from the Polish Princess appeared on the Internet in which she appealed for the end to the war in Ukraine and quoted a number of bitter facts about the world's passivity towards the situation in Ukraine. After meeting young widows and mothers of fallen soldiers, Princess a began to act. We can all see that the chosen policy has failed and that the tragedy of Ukraine is still ongoing. When she saw the bloody photographs from the front she gave her word that she would do everything in her power to restore peace in Ukraine.

As we can read in the appeal: "According to the report made by Human Rights department of United Nations, by the end of 2018 around 13,000 people had died as a result of the conflict in Ukraine. A quarter of them were civilians. In addition, more than 30,000 people were injured during the armed confrontation."

Polish Princess Angelika Jarosławska-Sapieha asks for the unification and solidarity of the EU Member States in order to put an end to the conflict, but also points out that: "The international community has to determine whether it really supports Ukraine or the Russian Federation." In the letter we can read a number of examples of ineffectiveness of European sanctions, as well as inconsistencies of Western European countries, which despite the official declarations of concern about the actions of Russia, continue to implement a wide range of economic cooperation, bypassing sanctions. He stresses that the only country that consistently opposes Russia and does not give in to sanctions is the United States.

Princess Angelika Ewa Jarosławska-Sapieha (born 13.08.1990) is known in Poland mainly for her business and social activities. She is the economic and social coordinator of the Poland 3.0 program, vice-president of the National Cluster of Innovative Enterprises (the largest organization of this kind in the country) and the President of the Foundation for the Remembrance of Polish Pilots Fighting in the Country and Foreign as 303 Squadron. Her foundation supported, among others, the organization of the Memory Rally 44, in which Polish veterans traveled almost 6000 km on bicycles, throughout the United States. Each day commemorated one soldier killed on missions in Afghanistan and Iraq. She is also involved in supporting women's entrepreneurship, e.g. as an Ambassador of Women's Entrepreneurship. She has recently been elected one of the 30 before 30 for Forbes magazine.

Polish Princess Angelika Jarosławska-Sapieha recently received the Order of St. Stanislaus, established by King Stanislaus August Poniatowski. As a social activist received a distinction in the highest - first class.

We found the letter on the Poland 3.0 programme website: http://polska30.pl/another-partition-of-ukraine-appeal-for-peace/

Letter from HSH Princess Angelika Jarosławska-Sapieha:

Another partition of Ukraine

To the attention of: Poland, the Three Seas Countries, the European Union, the United States and the United Nations.

If we do not stop Russia’s aspirations, in the next ten years, the Russian Federation will take over the entire belt from Donetsk to Moldova, so it may completely isolate Ukraine from the Black Sea.

Ladies and Gentlemen,

To achieve real cooperation, one cannot just speak big words. If you want peace, do not close your eyes. Action is our responsibility. Let’s do everything to end the war in Ukraine!

I, Angelika Jarosławska, will do everything in my capacity so that no more blood is shed in our eastern neighbours.

From the UN report on human rights monitoring, around 13,000 people died as a result of the conflict in Ukraine by the end of 2018. One quarter of these were civilians. Moreover, more than 30,000 people were injured during the armed confrontation. The war is still going on…

Today, in Crimea, Russia has 118 combat aircrafts, 60 helicopters, 57 multi-surface missile systems, 124 anti-aircraft systems, 16 missile defense systems, 30 warships and 5 submarines. Let us add that the strength of the regular Russian army is dislocated in the area of occupied Ukrainian oblasts (Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts). According to Ukrainian sources, the total number of Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in Ukraine consists of 60,000 soldiers!

I am the Vice-President of the National Association of Innovative Enterprises and coordinator of the bottom-up cluster program POLAND 3.0.

For over 6 years I‘ve been cooperating with experts creating cluster movement in Poland.

Since 2014, we have started strong cooperation with Ukraine, and earlier, as part of clusters, we have developed cooperation with the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Spain and the USA.

But Ukraine has become a priority for us in cross-border cooperation. On 22nd November 2016 in Ukraine, in Kiev, we opened the Ukraine 3.0 program under the patronage of the Ukrainian government. There were many companies from Poland, but also more than 1000 companies from Ukraine. We have worked together on several key projects that we have directed to the Polish and Ukrainian government. The most important areas of cooperation between Poland 3.0 and Ukraine 3.0 are infrastructure, joint projects of industry: automotive, aerospace and defense. As part of the cluster policy, we proposed cooperation between the Visegrad Group and Ukraine, and support for good business practices and effective implementation of innovations.

One of the flagship projects that we showed in Ukraine was a Polish-Ukrainian helicopter based on the Polish helicopter „Sokół”, or the construction of the RT+ 90 radio telescope in Poland. The universities have been working on this project for a few years. At this point I have to recall a very important thing – the Russians took over the largest reflecting telescope in Ukraine, which was located in the Crimea. It was the same one that between 1966 and 2007 discovered 1,286 new asteroids. Above all, Russia was in this operation to ensure that Ukraine and this part of Europe, including Poland, became blind. For the safety of our space, we have repeatedly reported this fact to the most important decision-makers of the Republic of Poland. For a few years, unfortunately, the Polish government has not found funding for this purpose, despite the fact that Poland’s security should be placed first.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I have many friends in Ukraine, I come from eastern Poland and I travel to Ukraine very often. On many occasions at conferences and congresses where I had performed, I presented the cooperation of the Visegrad Group with Ukraine, which resulted in, amongst others, the LHS 65 wide transport line, which will directly be extended from Sławków to Gorzyczki, as part of the POLSKA 3.0 program we developed. We also encourage decision-makers to join Ukraine in the Three Seas Initiative. This is important for the future of Ukraine as well as to the Three Seas itself.

In the context of Ukraine, scandals and anxieties are being fuelled in Poland, a difficult common history is sometimes quoted, but let us remember! The retreat from Ukraine means Russia at our borders. Security of Ukraine is our common security. The international community must determine whether it really supports Ukraine or supports the Russian Federation.

Let me provide you with some bitter examples:

Sanctions and double morality.

President of Russian Vladimir Putin met in the Kremlin at the end of 2018 with representatives of the largest and most important German companies being members of the German Eastern Business Association. „The German central bank, Bundesbank, summed up the statistical results from 2018. It revised up its estimates of German direct investments in Russia to EUR 3.2 billion. Russian‘s President Vladimir Putin and German‘s Economy and Energy Minister Peter Altmaier opened a high-tech Mercedes-Benz factory on April 3, 2019, only 40 km from Moscow. The same group provided the leader of the Korean People’s Republic, Kim Jong Un, with the latest exclusive Mercedes Maybach S600 Pullman Guard and Mercedes Maybach S62 limousines. The company did not suffer any consequences, it was enough for Daimler’s press officer to say that they have no idea how the dictator owned these limousines. Another scandal is the supply of German Siemens turbines to the annexed Crimea for the power plant in Sevastopol. Despite the sanctions, the equipment went to the territory considered illegally annexed. – „Siemens did not supply turbines in Crimea and adheres to all restrictions,” said press officer in Munich, Wolfram Trost. I will not mention the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline, in which Russia and Germany, carry out their plan by breaking the rules and the EU law, as the the Russian company can not be both a producer and seller of raw material for the new pipe, as well as being its owner.

For decades, Russia has been one of the most important partners of the European Union, immediately after the US, China and Switzerland (about 6% of the total exchange). This strong relationship also deepens the EU’s dependence on Russian oil and gas imports. Also for Russia, the Union has been and is the most important trading partner – almost half of exports from this country are going to the Community market. The Union is also the largest investor in Russia (over 70%).

What is worth emphasizing, is the fact that the consequences of sanctions were most visible in the year of their introduction. In the next three years, their effects were made up for. Since the beginning of 2017, we have also been observing the economic recovery of Russia and the increase in trade exchange between partners. Hence German companies increased their exports to Russia by 20% in 2017, France by 26%, Italy by 17%, and to Poland by almost 20%.

Poland imports more than 21 million tonnes of coal every year from Russia. Due to sanctions, this coal is imported by third countries. Polish apples go to Belarus, where they are imprinted with new labels so that they can reach the Russian market.

The only country that is firm in sanctions is the United States and it can be seen at every step of the occupied Crimea.

That is why, as a representative of a non-governmental organization, I took part in the 5th International Yalta Forum. I am proud that I had the courage to say that sanctions do not work and create a huge gray market and fictitious documentation and crimes.

I cited the fact that Belarusian shrimps exist on the market, despite the fact that Belarus does not have access to the sea. Vladimir Putin was often shown at the Forum in a truck that rushes across the Kerczeń bridge. A new 2,000 rubles banknote was also printed, with a newly built bridge on it.

Does anyone still think that Russia will give Crimea back?

The Yalta Forum took place in the same place where the Yalta Conference took place 74 years ago. That conference, where decisions about the fate of Poland were made, without Poland’s participation and vote. Those were decisions that were decisive for the post-war shape of Europe. The World Powers agreed to the creation of the Provisional Government of National Unity in Warsaw, which was obliged to conduct free, unrestricted elections by universal suffrage (the elections were falsified). Allies gave Stalin a carte blanche for the military destruction of the armed underground – primarily the Home Polish Army and the National Armed Forces .

At the Forum, in which representatives of 73 countries participated, I learned that also Russia would not only stop at the annexation of Crimea. It wants to go further, from the Black Sea to Moldova.

Today, when the world turns a blind eye to Russia’s actions, focusing on creating business alliances and subsequent plans to strengthen relations, should Poland be absent, unaware of how the mechanisms around work?

In foreign policy the ideas and declarations are not the most important issues, in contrast to the real actions, effectiveness, long-term strategy and security. We often hear from politicians that they support Ukraine…

There is little going on in Ukrainian matters, but for years we have been morally outraged at Russia, we are arguing over the interpretation of history, we are plunging in internal Polish divisions into Russophiles and Russophobes. Subsequent governments have no idea about the issues of cooperation with Ukraine and equally few results in the eastern area (nie wiem jak to przetłumaczyć, episode jest źle, może być też region), but they deepen social unrest.

Recently, Germany and France have taken over the joint presidency of the UN Security Council.

France, despite the sanctions imposed on Russia due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, is still the leading economic partner of Russia, and also the largest foreign employer in that country. France is also the second largest source of foreign investment in Russia. Russian President Vladimir Putin on 18th April 2019 in the Kremlin met with top managers of French companies such as Societe Generale, Air Liquide, Renault, and Auchan. As the President of Russia underlined during this meeting: „mutual relations develop very well. Last year, trade between France and Russia increased by 11% to 17 billion dollars. As emphasized during the meeting, French investments in the Russian economy exceeded 20 billion dollars. The head of the French Blablacar in the Kremlin stressed that the car-sharing platform, present in Russia since 2014 and with 20 million users, was co-financed by Russian Baring Vostok with the amount of EUR 21 million. Over 600 French companies and companies with French capital operate on the Russian market, and energy cooperation is now strategically important for both countries. Russian and French companies are building Nord Stream 2 and Arctic LNG 2. In 2017, Russian-French trade increased by 16.5% year-on-year and reached 15.5 billion USD. In the first nine months of 2018, bilateral trading amounted to USD 12.7 billion.

At the Forum in Yalta, where I spoke about sanctions at a round table, I also showed a project created by Poles, although in an international team based on the first hybrid blockchain. It was very important to me, Polish woman, because this digital currency and our solution will change the world for the better.

The Russian news agency TASS reported and lied about the new currency, as if it allegedly being Russian-Chinese-Indian, an alternative to the dollar. I have never said that. The media did not say a word about my statements about Russia’s sanctions as well as my criticism of Russia. Fortunately, we have our own full recording of all my speech that is attached to this letter.

I, Angelika Jarosławska, recall the United Nations Charter and the Preamble:

WE THE PEOPLES OF THE UNITED NATIONS DETERMINED

  • to save succeeding generations from the scourge of war, which twice in our lifetime has brought untold sorrow to mankind, and
  • to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small, and
  • to establish conditions under which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties and other sources of international law can be maintained, and
  • to promote social progress and better standards of life in larger freedom,

AND FOR THESE ENDS

  • to practice tolerance and live together in peace with one another as good neighbours, and
  • to unite our strength to maintain international peace and security, and
  • to ensure, by the acceptance of principles and the institution of methods, that armed force shall not be used, save in the common interest, and
  • to employ international machinery for the promotion of the economic and social advancement of all peoples

HAVE RESOLVED TO COMBINE OUR EFFORTS TO ACCOMPLISH THESE AIMS.

Accordingly, our respective Governments, through representatives assembled in the city of San Francisco, who have exhibited their full powers found to be in good and due form, have agreed to the present Charter of the United Nations and do hereby establish an international organization to be known as the United Nations.

I appeal,

LET US UNITE ALL POSSIBLE FORCES, THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY, ABOVE ANY DIVISIONS, FOR THE HIGHER CAUSE – PEACE AND SAFETY IN UKRAINE. LET US STOP THE WAR IN UKRAINE – ONCE AND FOR ALL.

Thank you for your attention,
Angelika Jarosławska
