Elzbieta Czyzewska in Wajda\'s \"Everything for Sale\" on CUNY TV
09 lipca, 2010
A stunning performance by ELZBIETA CZYZEWSKA in EVERYTHING FOR SALE by Andrzej Wajda (1969)
three showings of the film on CUNY TV, Channel 75
(New York 5 boroughs)
In tribute to one of the brightest stars of the Polish cinema, Elzbieta Czyzewska, who passed away in New York on June 17th, 2010, CUNY TV will feature Andrzej Wajda\'s film Everything for Sale, recalling her memorable and dynamic role as Ela.
In this masterful "Polish 8 1/2 ", Czyzewska played love and anger, hope and rebellion, with intensity and nuance. We will miss her talent, which fueled so many Polish films in the 1960s (The Saragossa Manuscript by Wojciech Jerzy Has, Wife for an Australian by Stanislaw Bareja,Identification Marks: None by Jerzy Skolimowski), American productions after she settled in the U.S. (Running on Empty by Sydney Lumet and Cadillac Man by Roger Donaldson), and theater (The Possessed at the Yale Repertory Theater and Crowbar by Marc Wellman, for which she won the Obie and New York Critics Circle Awards in 1990).
